What is skin health?

The skin is the largest organ of the human body. Depending on your height and weight, it can reach up to two square meters and a weight of ten kilograms for a full-grown person. In doing so, it not only takes on a specific task against most organs in the human body, but also provides versatile protection and fulfills various functions.

A healthy skin is outwardly characterized by its evenness, resilience and revitalizing ability. Many typical skin characteristics such as the tendency to liver spots or freckles are hereditary. Accordingly, these peculiarities are already anchored in the DNA and can not be influenced. The fact that the skin changes in the course of life, says nothing about their general health.

Many adolescents suffer from excessive sebaceous gland activity during puberty due to hormone changes, which can lead to oily skin and impurities. In older people, on the other hand, their function is to retain moisture and they are more prone to dry skin. Both types are usually uncomfortable for those affected. By appropriate care and nutrition, skin health can usually be promoted and changes in the skin counteracted.
