We are shocked to learn the passing away of young and rising Ethiopian musician Tamrat Desta today. The news was reported on Seifu Fantahun radio show this morning. The cause of his death is unknown yet. He reportedly passed out while driving to a hospital to get checked after complaining of illness.

Among well known songs by Tamrat Desta are “Anileyahim,” “Hakime Nesh,” “Beredo Bete,” and “Egnan New Mayet.”

Tamrat was born and grew up in Awassa, Ethiopia. Later on he made his residence first in Dire Dawa, and recently in Addis Ababa. He is survived by his wife and five children.
