A colleague of Cedric Asiavugwa, remembers the Georgetown Law student

“This was a real, horrible loss for the Georgetown University community, and really for humanity itself, given who Cedric was.” Mary Novak, a colleague of Cedric Asiavugwa, remembers the Georgetown Law student who was one of 157 killed in the Ethiopia Airlines crash.

On Sunday morning, Georgetown University Law Center lost one of its best and brightest students in the tragic Ethiopian Airlines crash that killed 157 people from 35 countries.
Cedric Asiavugwa, 32, a Kenyan native, was a third-year student in the school’s joint J.D./LL.M. program. Following the death of his fiancee’s mother, Asiavugwa was taking a flight home to Nairobi, Kenya, when he was killed. During his time at Georgetown, Asiavugwa — a Blume Public Interest Scholar, Global Law Scholar, and Arrupe Scholar for Peace — served as a residential minister and focused his studies on international business and economic law.
